INEC Rejects Request For Extension Of Deadline For Primaries- Political Parties

The INEC manager talked as Yusuf Yabagi, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), spoke to the commission to broaden the June 3 cutoff time for ideological groups’ primaries for the 2023 general political race, by two months.

Talking on Ekiti and Osun governorship decisions scheduled for June 18 and July 16, Yakubu said Section 42 of the Electoral Act 2022 expected the commission to welcome ideological groups to investigate tests of materials for the political decision not later than 20 days before the date fixed for an election.Earlier, Yabagi said that the interest for changing the plan and timetable of exercises for the 2023 general races was taken on consistently by the 18 ideological groups at the IPAC general gathering meeting.
